The park, for a bus

What we plan around

Hersheypark is a long day from here, about three hours each way, so the bus side matters more than usual: the start time, the driver’s hours and where the coach waits.

01

Free parking for buses

Hersheypark’s rule is that parking is free for vehicles with 15 passengers or more. The park publishes no separate bus drop-off, so we confirm the drop with the park before the date.

02

A late-spring weekday season

In 2026 the park opened on spring weekends first and ran daily from mid-May, so weekday school trips land in late May and June. Book once the park posts the year’s calendar.

03

A long day, planned

About three hours each way means an early start and a late return. Federal limits on a driver’s hours shape the day, and a park day that would run too long is planned as an overnight, with the coach staying.

04

Chocolate World next door

Hershey’s Chocolate World, beside the park, has its own canopy drop-off for buses and sends them to free parking off site, so a stop there goes on the plan.

How a Hersheypark day runs

School to school
DepartureEarly

The bus is at the school early

A Hersheypark day starts early: spot time is set ahead of the morning traffic, and the teacher and the driver have each other’s cell the night before.

The driveI-78

Out I-78 into Pennsylvania

About three to three and a half hours from Newark, Staten Island, Bergen County or Midtown on a weekday morning, on I-78 and the toll bridge into Pennsylvania. Tolls are itemized at cost.

At the parkThe wait

The coach waits all day

The coach parks free at the park and the driver rests through the day, so the ride home leaves when the group is back at the gate.

ReturnEvening

Everyone home together

The return is timed to your set departure from the park, and the trip leader gets a heads-up when the bus is ten minutes from the school.

Full days are quoted as one full-day rate, travel time included, so the long drive never turns into surprise hours.

Three steps to a confirmed schedule

How it works
01

Send the date and the headcount

The trip date, students and chaperones, the school address, and the time on your confirmation if you have it.

02

One all-in number the same day

Gratuity and fuel are in the number and tolls are itemized at cost: one price a business office or PTA can approve.

03

Booked and run

Driver info the day before, one contact the morning of, and the bus at the school before the bell.

Sized for the group

Questions, answered

Hersheypark trip FAQ
Where do buses park at Hersheypark?
The park’s rule is that parking is free for vehicles with 15 passengers or more. It publishes no separate bus drop-off, so we confirm the drop with the park before the date.
Can we do Hersheypark as a day trip?
Yes, as a long one: about three hours each way plus the park day. Federal limits on a driver’s hours shape the plan, and when the day would run too long we price it as an overnight with the coach staying.
How is a full day priced?
As one full-day rate, travel time included, with tolls itemized at cost. The quote states the whole window, so there is nothing to work out on the day.
When do weekday school trips run?
Late May and June, once the park is open daily. The park posts each year’s calendar and its education days; send yours with the headcount.
Does the bus wait all day?
Yes. The coach parks at the park and the driver stays with it.
Can you provide a certificate of insurance?
Yes, on request, naming your school or organization as additional insured where required.
Who operates the bus?
A licensed motor carrier from our network, under its own authority and $5M liability insurance. Glyde arranges and coordinates the trip, and the operating carrier is named on your contract. You deal with one contact and one number throughout, and the driver’s cell reaches you the night before.
