Group buses to a Broadway show

A Broadway trip is easier on one bus: the group rides in together, nobody hunts for parking in Midtown, and the same bus brings everyone home after the curtain. Glyde arranges Sprinters, mini coaches and full coaches into the Theater District for church groups, senior clubs, social clubs and offices from North Jersey, Staten Island and Long Island, for matinees and evening shows. Your group books its tickets with the show; we handle the bus.

The theater day

Four moves

From your door

The bus collects the group at the church, the club or the office, timed to the show. The driver’s name and cell come the night before.

Into Midtown

About 45 minutes from Hackensack or Newark and an hour from Staten Island for a matinee, longer for an evening show in the rush. Buses keep to the routes the city allows them, so the plan is built on those, not the car route.

A quick stop at the theater

City rules allow a bus only a quick stop to load and unload, never in a travel lane, with the driver staying with the bus. The group steps off as close to the theater as the curb rules allow, and the bus moves on.

Back after the curtain

During the show the bus waits where the city lets buses lay over, or in an off-street lot, and returns to a set pickup corner when the show lets out. Everyone rides home together.

Churches, seniors, clubs, offices

Who rides

Most Broadway groups are church groups, parish and senior clubs, women’s and social clubs, parent groups and offices taking a team night out. The day is planned for them: unhurried boarding, one meeting corner after the show, and a driver who waits.

One contact, one number. The group leader gets one quote and one contact, and the driver’s name and cell come the night before.

Dinner before the show. A restaurant stop before the curtain goes on the plan, under the same quick-stop rules.

Planning the show day

Set to your schedule

Matinees usually run Wednesday and Saturday at 2 and Sunday at 2 or 3, and evening shows at 7 on Tuesday and 8 most other nights, with most theaters dark on Monday. The departure is set so the group is in its seats before the curtain.

New York City limits bus idling to three minutes, so the bus parks and shuts down rather than circling the block. Tolls and the Manhattan congestion charge are itemized at cost. The quote you approve is the invoice you get.

Vehicles and what it costs

Up to 55 seats

Count the people riding. A club of 13 fits a Sprinter, a church group of 30 a mini coach, and a senior club trip of 55 a full coach.

Vehicle Seats Rate
Sprinter Van up to 13 passengers from $200/hr
Mini Bus 23–29 passengers $200–300/hr by size
Mini Coach 35–39 passengers $200–300/hr by size
Full Coach 55 passengers up to $300/hr

Rates are $200 to $300 per hour by vehicle size with a 5-hour minimum per vehicle, billed garage-to-garage: the drive to your first pickup, every leg, the wait between them, and the return. Every quote includes 10% gratuity and a 5% fuel charge up front; tolls are itemized at cost. Days that run past 10 hours switch to a full-day rate. Exact per-vehicle rates are on the Pricing Guide.

How it works

Four steps

1. Send the details

The show, the date and curtain time, where the group leaves from, and how many people ride.

2. A quote within a day

One itemized number: base hours, 10% gratuity and 5% fuel already in, tolls listed at cost. No account, no deposit to see it.

3. A 25% deposit holds the date

Approve the quote and place the deposit; the vehicle and driver are reserved. The balance is due seven days before the trip.

4. Driver info the night before

You get the driver’s name and cell by email the evening before, with every pickup restated. The group leader gets the same information.

Broadway trip questions

FAQ

Do you sell Broadway tickets?
No. Your group books its tickets through the show’s group sales or a group ticket seller; we handle the bus, timed to your curtain.
Where does the bus drop us off?
As close to the theater as the city’s curb rules allow. A bus may only make a quick stop to load and unload, never in a travel lane, so the group steps off together and the bus moves on.
Where does the bus wait during the show?
Where the city lets buses lay over, on the far West Side, or in an off-street lot, then back to a set pickup corner when the show lets out.
How long is the ride from New Jersey or Staten Island?
For a matinee, about 45 minutes from Hackensack or Newark and an hour from Staten Island. For an evening show in the rush, allow about an hour from Hackensack or Newark and an hour and twenty minutes from Staten Island.
Who operates the bus?
A licensed motor carrier from our network, under its own authority and $5M liability insurance. Glyde arranges and coordinates the trip, and the operating carrier is named on your contract. You deal with one contact and one number throughout, and the driver’s cell reaches you the night before.
