Planning a shuttle to Snug Harbor

North Shore, Staten Island
✕

The venue

Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden is the 83-acre landmarked campus on Richmond Terrace, and its weddings are run by Celebrate at Snug Harbor, the on-site caterer. Receptions are in the Great Hall, which holds up to about 275, the GH Gallery on its lower floor, or the Tented Pavilion beside the Chinese Scholar’s Garden, open April through the third weekend of October. Ceremonies are held in the Tuscan, White, Rose and Chinese Scholar’s gardens or in the Music Hall. Parking is free in the campus lots, with valet at extra cost.

✕

Where guests stay

There are no guest rooms on the campus. The closest hotel is the Hotel Richmond in St. George, about 15 minutes away. The West Shore hotels on South Avenue, the Hilton Garden Inn, the Hampton Inn and Suites and the Fairfield, are about 25 minutes, and the Newark airport hotels in Elizabeth and the Lower Manhattan hotels near the ferry terminal are about 35 by road.

✕

How we plan it

Snug Harbor is a gated campus, and after dark every gate is locked except the West Gate on Snug Harbor Road, so the evening runs come in and go out through the West Gate. The campus publishes no coach rules, so we confirm with Celebrate’s event manager the week before where the coach drops, closest to the Great Hall or the Tented Pavilion, and where it waits. Guests coming over on the Staten Island Ferry can be met at the St. George terminal, about ten minutes away, and brought straight to the gardens.

✕

Timing and vehicles

A 250-guest wedding is three 55-seat coaches running two loops from the West Shore hotels; guests at the Hotel Richmond, about 15 minutes away, ride one coach on quick loops. With the ceremony outside in the gardens, first pickups land guests 20 minutes before the start, and the last coach waits through the send-off, then runs the hotels and the ferry terminal at the end of the night.

The day, handled

What your guests get
01

Out-of-town guests can’t get lost

Everyone leaves the hotel together and reaches the venue at the same time. No wrong address in the GPS, no cousin from Ohio missing the ceremony.

02

Grandparents don’t cross a lot in heels

Guests are dropped as close to the Great Hall or the gardens as the campus roads allow, not at the far end of a lot.

03

Rain doesn’t ruin the look

Climate-controlled and door-to-door, so hair, makeup, gowns, and suits arrive exactly how they left.

04

The open bar isn’t a liability

Guests celebrate, then ride back to the hotel safely. We run the end-of-night route, not just the arrival.

05

Arrivals on your schedule

One wave or staggered by group, however you’ve planned the timing with your coordinator and venue.

06

One shuttle or a fleet

A van for the bridal party, a full coach for the whole guest list, or several moving in sync.

“We booked this company for all-day bridal party transportation, ending the night at Nicotra’s Ballroom in Staten Island, and it was one of the best decisions we made.”

“We booked this company for a wedding shuttle from Arlo Williamsburg to Weylin, and they nailed it. The pickup process was super organized, which made things easy for guests who weren’t familiar with the area.”

Questions, answered

Snug Harbor FAQ
Do you have a minimum number of hours?
Yes — a 5-hour minimum applies. Your quote reserves a dedicated bus and driver for your date — no shared rides, no surprises. The full billing breakdown is on the pricing page.
How do you plan the pickup and drop-off at Snug Harbor?
Snug Harbor is a gated campus, and after dark every gate is locked except the West Gate on Snug Harbor Road, so the evening runs come in and go out through the West Gate. The campus publishes no coach rules, so we confirm with Celebrate’s event manager the week before where the coach drops, closest to the Great Hall or the Tented Pavilion, and where it waits. Guests coming over on the Staten Island Ferry can be met at the St. George terminal, about ten minutes away, and brought straight to the gardens.
Can you cover both the trip to Snug Harbor and the rides back?
Yes. Most Snug Harbor weddings book a coordinated plan — guests from the hotel blocks to the venue, then return runs after the reception. The last coach waits, so nobody is stranded when the night runs long.
What if my guest count changes?
That’s normal. A rough number is fine to start; we confirm the final count two weeks out and adjust the vehicle plan if needed.
Which hotels do guests usually stay at for Snug Harbor weddings?
There are no guest rooms on the campus. The closest hotel is the Hotel Richmond in St. George, about 15 minutes away. The West Shore hotels on South Avenue, the Hilton Garden Inn, the Hampton Inn and Suites and the Fairfield, are about 25 minutes, and the Newark airport hotels in Elizabeth and the Lower Manhattan hotels near the ferry terminal are about 35 by road.
When should we book a wedding shuttle for Snug Harbor?
Four to eight months out is typical for peak Saturday dates, around the time your hotel-block counts firm up. Closer dates can often still be covered — ask before assuming.
