Planning a shuttle to Sound River Studios

Long Island City, Queens
✕

The venue

Sound River Studios is a street-level waterfront studio at 4–40 44th Drive in Long Island City, a block from Gantry Plaza State Park. The venue publishes 350 seated and 450 standing, with a ceremony, cocktails and reception on site for about 250 to 275 guests. Street parking is on 44th Drive and Vernon Boulevard, a city lot sits across the street, and valet can be hired.

✕

Where guests stay

Long Island City hotels are a few minutes away: the Ravel Hotel, the Boro Hotel, the Hyatt Place LIC. Midtown East is 15 minutes over the Queensboro Bridge, the Hyatt Grand Central and the Pod 51 among the blocks. Most couples run the shuttle from a Manhattan block and back at the end of the night.

✕

How we plan it

The venue asks that vendor and guest arrivals be scheduled to avoid congestion on 44th Drive, so we confirm the drop point and the wait spot with your planner the week before and drop at the venue’s street-level door. The coach waits on Vernon Boulevard or a nearby block, not in front of the entrance. Our driver takes the Queensboro Bridge, never the Grand Central Parkway or the BQE ramps that are closed to coaches.

✕

Timing and vehicles

A 300-guest wedding is two 55-seat coaches on a stagger from Midtown, or one coach on three runs; a mini coach covers a smaller group or a hotel loop. First pickups are timed so guests are inside 20 minutes before the ceremony, and the last coach waits through the send-off.

The day, handled

What your guests get
01

Out-of-town guests can’t get lost

Everyone leaves the hotel together and reaches the venue at the same time. No wrong address in the GPS, no cousin from Ohio missing the ceremony.

02

Grandparents don’t cross a lot in heels

Guests are dropped at the door, not in a field three blocks away.

03

Rain doesn’t ruin the look

Climate-controlled and door-to-door, so hair, makeup, gowns, and suits arrive exactly how they left.

04

The open bar isn’t a liability

Guests celebrate, then ride back to the hotel safely. We run the end-of-night route, not just the arrival.

05

Arrivals on your schedule

One wave or staggered by group, however you’ve planned the timing with your coordinator and venue.

06

One shuttle or a fleet

A van for the bridal party, a full coach for the whole guest list, or several moving in sync.

“We booked this company for all-day bridal party transportation, ending the night at Nicotra’s Ballroom in Staten Island, and it was one of the best decisions we made.”

“We booked this company for a wedding shuttle from Arlo Williamsburg to Weylin, and they nailed it. The pickup process was super organized, which made things easy for guests who weren’t familiar with the area.”

Questions, answered

Sound River Studios FAQ
Do you have a minimum number of hours?
Yes — a 5-hour minimum applies. Your quote reserves a dedicated bus and driver for your date — no shared rides, no surprises. The full billing breakdown is on the pricing page.
How do you plan the pickup and drop-off at Sound River Studios?
The venue asks that vendor and guest arrivals be scheduled to avoid congestion on 44th Drive, so we confirm the drop point and the wait spot with your planner the week before and drop at the venue’s street-level door. The coach waits on Vernon Boulevard or a nearby block, not in front of the entrance. Our driver takes the Queensboro Bridge, never the Grand Central Parkway or the BQE ramps that are closed to coaches.
Can you cover both the trip to Sound River Studios and the rides back?
Yes. Most Sound River Studios weddings book a coordinated plan — guests from the hotel blocks to the venue, then return runs after the reception. The last coach waits, so nobody is stranded when the night runs long.
What if my guest count changes?
That’s normal. A rough number is fine to start; we confirm the final count two weeks out and adjust the vehicle plan if needed.
Which hotels do guests usually stay at for Sound River Studios weddings?
Long Island City hotels are a few minutes away: the Ravel Hotel, the Boro Hotel, the Hyatt Place LIC. Midtown East is 15 minutes over the Queensboro Bridge, the Hyatt Grand Central and the Pod 51 among the blocks. Most couples run the shuttle from a Manhattan block and back at the end of the night.
When should we book a wedding shuttle for Sound River Studios?
Four to eight months out is typical for peak Saturday dates, around the time your hotel-block counts firm up. Closer dates can often still be covered — ask before assuming.
