Get your wedding quote →Bronx Zoo weddings are run by the Wildlife Conservation Society at 2300 Southern Boulevard, with the ceremony in the 1908 Zoo Center or outdoors among the peacocks and the reception for up to 175 seated or 250 cocktail-style. The zoo has two public lots, on Southern Boulevard and off the Bronx River Parkway at Boston Road; buses park in the Southern Boulevard lot for a per-bus fee, first come first served, and the pedestrian gate at Southern Boulevard and 185th Street is the drop-off the zoo publishes for car services.
The Opera House Hotel in the South Bronx is about 12 minutes; New Rochelle (the EVEN Hotel, the Residence Inn) about 18 and Yonkers (the Courtyard, the Residence Inn) about 20. A Midtown Manhattan hotel (the Marriott Marquis, the Grand Hyatt) is about 35 minutes. The zoo closes to the public before an evening wedding, so most guests come and go by coach.
The zoo’s own driving directions send cars up the Bronx River Parkway, which is closed to coaches, so our driver comes in on the Cross Bronx or the Bruckner Expressway to Southern Boulevard. An evening event runs after public hours, so we confirm the gate, the drop point and where the coach waits with the WCS events team the week before; the published plan is the Southern Boulevard gate for the drop and the Southern Boulevard lot for the wait, and we follow whatever the events team directs on the night.
A full reception is one 55-seat coach on three runs from Manhattan or two coaches on a stagger; from a Westchester block a mini coach on loops covers it. First pickups are timed so guests are inside the gate 20 minutes before the ceremony, and the last coach waits through the send-off.
