Planning a shuttle to The Plaza Hotel

Fifth Avenue at Central Park, Manhattan
✕

The venue

The Plaza is at 768 Fifth Avenue on Grand Army Plaza, with Central Park across Central Park South. The Grand Ballroom seats 500 for dinner and holds 1,000 for a reception; the Terrace Room seats 370 and holds 500; the Oak Room, the Edwardian Room and the Palm Court take the smaller weddings. Ceremonies are held in the Grand Ballroom, the Terrace Room or the Palm Court. The hotel has 282 rooms and suites, valet parking is off site, and there is no bus parking at the hotel.

✕

Where guests stay

Most guests sleep in the building. Overflow blocks land on the same corner: the JW Marriott Essex House and the Ritz-Carlton Central Park are three minutes away, the St. Regis, the Peninsula and the Pierre about five. The shuttle here is the ceremony transfer, a church on Fifth Avenue or Park Avenue, or a rehearsal dinner and after-party run downtown.

✕

How we plan it

The Plaza’s arrival entrance is the Fifth Avenue porte-cochere, which is built for cars and doormen, not coaches, so we confirm with the hotel’s event manager the week before whether the coach loads on Fifth Avenue or on Central Park South, and where it waits. The Plaza sits at 59th Street, the edge of the congestion zone; the fee applies when the coach works below 60th and is billed at cost. Our driver runs Fifth and Madison and the crosstown streets, never the park drives.

✕

Timing and vehicles

A Grand Ballroom wedding with a church transfer is two or three 55-seat coaches on a stagger; a Terrace Room wedding is one coach on two runs or two on a single move. For a downtown after-party one coach makes loops from the hotel. First pickups are timed so guests are seated 20 minutes before the ceremony, and the last coach waits through the send-off.

The day, handled

What your guests get
01

Out-of-town guests can’t get lost

Everyone leaves the hotel together and reaches the venue at the same time. No wrong address in the GPS, no cousin from Ohio missing the ceremony.

02

Grandparents don’t cross a lot in heels

Guests are dropped at the door, not in a field three blocks away.

03

Rain doesn’t ruin the look

Climate-controlled and door-to-door, so hair, makeup, gowns, and suits arrive exactly how they left.

04

The open bar isn’t a liability

Guests celebrate, then ride back to the hotel safely. We run the end-of-night route, not just the arrival.

05

Arrivals on your schedule

One wave or staggered by group, however you’ve planned the timing with your coordinator and venue.

06

One shuttle or a fleet

A van for the bridal party, a full coach for the whole guest list, or several moving in sync.

“We booked this company for all-day bridal party transportation, ending the night at Nicotra’s Ballroom in Staten Island, and it was one of the best decisions we made.”

“We booked this company for a wedding shuttle from Arlo Williamsburg to Weylin, and they nailed it. The pickup process was super organized, which made things easy for guests who weren’t familiar with the area.”

Questions, answered

The Plaza Hotel FAQ
Do you have a minimum number of hours?
Yes — a 5-hour minimum applies. Your quote reserves a dedicated bus and driver for your date — no shared rides, no surprises. The full billing breakdown is on the pricing page.
How do you plan the pickup and drop-off at The Plaza Hotel?
The Plaza’s arrival entrance is the Fifth Avenue porte-cochere, which is built for cars and doormen, not coaches, so we confirm with the hotel’s event manager the week before whether the coach loads on Fifth Avenue or on Central Park South, and where it waits. The Plaza sits at 59th Street, the edge of the congestion zone; the fee applies when the coach works below 60th and is billed at cost. Our driver runs Fifth and Madison and the crosstown streets, never the park drives.
Can you cover both the trip to The Plaza Hotel and the rides back?
Yes. Most The Plaza Hotel weddings book a coordinated plan — guests from the hotel blocks to the venue, then return runs after the reception. The last coach waits, so nobody is stranded when the night runs long.
What if my guest count changes?
That’s normal. A rough number is fine to start; we confirm the final count two weeks out and adjust the vehicle plan if needed.
Which hotels do guests usually stay at for The Plaza Hotel weddings?
Most guests sleep in the building. Overflow blocks land on the same corner: the JW Marriott Essex House and the Ritz-Carlton Central Park are three minutes away, the St. Regis, the Peninsula and the Pierre about five. The shuttle here is the ceremony transfer, a church on Fifth Avenue or Park Avenue, or a rehearsal dinner and after-party run downtown.
When should we book a wedding shuttle for The Plaza Hotel?
Four to eight months out is typical for peak Saturday dates, around the time your hotel-block counts firm up. Closer dates can often still be covered — ask before assuming.
